‘Three Colours: Red’ is the final film of the great Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski. It is also the final part of his ‘Three Colours’ trilogy. And to begin at the end, ‘Three Colours: Red’ has one of cinema’s greatest final scenes… What a beautiful goodbye!

As for the film itself I am hesitant to analyse it too much. Its power lies in its mystery – an enigmatic and deeply touching exploration of chance, fate, connection. ‘I feel something important is happening around me’ Valentine, the protagonist of the film, confides. We feel that too.

It’s a masterclass of a film, littered with secrets and clues, the closer you look. It resonated with me long after that brilliant final scene.
