Truly Madly Deeply is such an affecting, charming film. Made for T.V. on a shoestring budget and shot in just 28 days, it never fails to touch the heart.
The first film written and directed by Anthony Minghella, it contains the seeds of his future greatness (as witnessed in full flourish in The English Patient). Then there are the performances – most notably the brilliant, charismatic Alan Rickman.
With the streets of London as a backdrop, it deals with profound issues of grief and loss with such a lightness of touch.
It’s a small gem!
