Cave-like and Candlelit, so dark it’s always possible to have an accident, Gordon’s is not only the oldest wine bar in London (opened in 1890) but my personal favourite. From Villiers Street, follow the hand pointing down and you’ll find all the hidden delights of this Dickensian bar that time forgot.
Sit with wine and cheese in hand and you’ll feel the atmosphere of over a hundred years of London Romance soaked into the walls. All mercifully unchanged and unchanging, as the great city rushes along above your head.
Quite simply, “There’s no place like it in London”…
