What makes a great life?
The BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Great Lives’ attempts to answer this question. Each week a well known guest is invited to nominate someone they consider to have lived a great life. An expert is also invited to join the discussion and make the case. The show is presided over by the gentle and humorous voice of its presenter Matthew Parris (whose memoir ‘Chance Witness: An Outsider’s Life in Politics’ I throughly recommend).
From Kurt Cobain to Franklin D Roosevelt; from Judy Garland to Hypatia…
Each episode you are in the company of a complex, brilliant mind – as you take an unsparing look at their triumphs and tragedies, flaws and achievements.
