I have long loved ‘The Cure’ and here, Robert Smith’s collaboration with Crystal Castles brings out something haunting and vulnerable in his voice – as a cold wave of electronics threatens to engulf it.
Smith made a homemade demo of his vocals and instead of professionally re-recording it they decided to keep the immediacy of this ‘first take’.
Simply unforgettable!
